Sun Fading is a series that traces the quiet emergence of forms—disappearing and surfacing through the presence of sunlight.
As an extension of my White Hot series, which visualized energy through the contrast of black and white, this work moves from charcoal—a material bearing the trace of nature—toward sunlight itself: a more elemental and intangible source.
Where the light touches, color slowly develops. Where objects intervene, the surface retains its original hue. The resulting images vary subtly depending on the intensity of the sun, the surrounding temperature, and the responsiveness of the dye. Each piece becomes a record shaped by time, chance, and the unpredictable gestures of nature.
The divide between exposed and concealed areas evokes the sensation of forms evaporating—only to return with greater clarity.
I am drawn to this duality: the way light can both articulate and erase. Within this fragile tension, I witness the lingering warmth of light and nature’s quiet record of time.
